Sydney-based flight training academy Sydney Flight College (SFC) has been awarded 'Brand and Marketing Campaign of the Year' at the 2023 Australian Aviation Awards, which were held on Thursday evening, August 31.

The award category, one of four in which SFC was named finalist, recognises the exceptional achievement of the flight training academy's rebranding and initiatives over the past 12 months. With the criteria for the award being either 'a major success, achievement or milestone over the assessment period', SFC was recognised for its work in its rebrand of simplifying the pathway to becoming a pilot, along with its women in aviation initiative, '25 by 25' - its goal of 25% female student pilots by 2025 - and its broad-scoped outreach program.

As a leading not-for-profit flight academy and long-standing flying club, SFC is honoured to be recognised for its major success and achievements in simplifying the pathway to flying careers, clarifying that path by addressing misconceptions, and nurturing the growth of female aviation professionals.

SFC Head of Marketing Raymond Toutounji said that the award is a reflection of the club’s leadership, vision, and culture within.

“Our three-pronged approach to nurturing individual growth and enhancing flight training – simplicity, elevation, and clarity – has proven effective in enabling the next generation to visualise and achieve their dreams of flying.” Toutounji said.

SFC chief executive Joseph Pilo said that SFC’s developing a quality brand and product is an achievement of which all members are proud, with benefits spreading to communities across Australia.

As a not-for-profit flight training facility, SFC’s sole purpose is to grow the aviation industry through the joy of flight.
